My lessons are done virtually and are conveniently held on Zoom.
Yes, it is very effective! In fact, many children do better online than in-person because the teaching tools that I use are dynamic, engaging, fun, and really keep their attention. I've been successful with teaching online to children with special needs as young as 2 years old!
There are 4 easy steps:
I teach early literacy skills to children under 5 all the way to grade 8. I also teach teenagers and adults.
I currently offer one on one classes, however, I am working towards offering group classes of 3 to 4 students because it can be very motivating for most children to learn along with children who can relate to their struggles. It also allows me to reach more students in a day, considering lessons are normally held during after school hours.
Private one on one lessons are currently $70 for 1 full hour session.
Sessions for 30 minutes are $35 (recommended for students 5 and younger).
Groups of 3 students : $25 per student for 1 full hour session.
Groups of 4 students : $20 per student for 1 full hour session.
(Note: I normally give students a 5-7 minute rest to reset).
All sales are final.
There is no fee to register.
Since lessons don't necessarily have a definitive date to come to an end, like taking classes for the SATs, you can pay per lesson! I pre-schedule students' lessons so they repeat on my calendar however many times they take lessons per month. All payments are pre-paid on autopay using your bank card or credit card. More detailed information about my policies and how everything works is in the Family Welcome Packet you will receive when you get onboard as a client.
I group students according to skill level, not age. A 1:1 free reading assessment will allow me to determine the pain points each child has so that I can decide how to group them or if they will be better off with one to one lessons. For instance, a 3rd grader and a 5th grader may share the same deficit such as phonemic awareness. Both children would be taught the same skills so in this case, age and grade level would not be a factor.
That all depends on factors such as how many skills they need to improve, how much effort they put into the process, how many sessions they take every week, and how much reinforcement they receive outside of our session time. Most students take at least 2 lessons a week usually with one day in between while other students may need 4-5. I will let you know how many lessons a week I think would be best for them and you can decide from there.
